The Pertosa-Auletta Caves represent one of the most beautiful natural spectacles of Salerno.
The caves are incredibly large, and branch out below the municipalities of Auletta and Polla.
The formation of the Pertosa Caves derives almost mainly from tectonic phenomena that over thousands of years have shaped their shapes thanks to the action of the waters coming from a duct of the Tanagro river.

TOURISM TO THE CAVES
Today the Pertosa-Auletta Caves are a very important tourist destination, which attracts tens of thousands of tourists every year.
The Caves have been open to the public for more than 80 years, since their opening to the public dates back to 1932.
The entrance is very impressive since to reach the first pedestrian path it is necessary to use a boat that crosses the water, moved by a metal cable.
THE THEATER INSIDE THE CAVES
Given the majesty of the caves, today it is possible to witness numerous shows inside them. At this moment, you can watch the representation "Ulysses: the Journey into Hades". Thanks to the new light projection systems, the representations and events inside the Grotto are incredibly unique and evocative.
